I worked with the company for over 10 years, and during that time, I gained a lot of valuable experience. Initially, I was part of the southern operations team, and later transitioned to the western operations. However, as the company began to adopt a more corporate structure, I noticed significant changes that affected the work environment.
One major concern I had was reporting to leadership that often lacked an understanding of the specifics of my role. The constant turnover in management, particularly in the western region based out of California, was challenging; it seemed like I had a new manager every few weeks. Additionally, it was disheartening to watch the Sacramento office struggle with stability, especially regarding retaining a general manager or staff in the area.
The company promotes an initiative called "OneBoldt," which I found to be more rhetoric than reality, as it seemed each regional group prioritized its own interests. Similarly, the touted "culture" was not something I experienced, particularly during my time in California.
I was also troubled by certain practices within the Sacramento office that I believed to be unethical, including accepting gifts and questionable business dealings with a large healthcare client. This shift in values made it increasingly difficult for me to promote the company with pride, as I felt the operational decisions did not align with my personal ethics.
My situation worsened when I was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. I had a planned return date from leave, but unexpectedly, I was let go the Friday before Christmas, with no explanation provided. This incident was particularly painful for me and my family.
In light of all this, I believe it’s important for potential employees to carefully consider their options before joining this company. The pay and benefits, including insurance and maternity leave, cannot be deemed competitive. I have seen first-hand that promises made by upper management often go unfulfilled, and employees may not feel valued or treated fairly.
