Pros

Bring your dog to work.

Cons

The company was not setup for success from the start and allows clients to treat employees however they choose. Everyone yells at each other to get things done, which I was never comfortable with. Employees are coached to deal with this. The pay and benefits do not compensate for the job that is expected, especially being on call 24/7. Management have never been managers anywhere else and do not know how to interact with new employees unless they are their friends. very biased and generally mean culture.

Pros

Lots of fun people, the holiday parties were a blast, lunches were provided several times a month, and they are really into the idea of letting you find your place within the company. Also, foosball. All in all, it was a valuable experience.

Cons

In my department leadership was very poor and didn't seem to know anything about how to properly manage projects. Things would be regularly pushed back, and often it seemed to be a case of "biting off more than you can chew". Not all departments seemed to be this way, though. Also, many of the younger employees are very very very clique-ish and there's a big hookup culture. If you're more than a couple years out of college, you might not fit in well.

Pros

Booj is a really fun place to work. You can bring your dog if you have one. There are a lot of good, friendly, active people that work there. You can do whatever you want. This is good and bad. Sometimes it's good, but it can also be irritating to work with people who are stoned all day, including managers. Fun games such as table tennis, pool, foosball etc. Good place to work if you are just out of college and have few expenses, or if you are a marijuana enthusiast.

Cons

They seem to get rid of some good people, but will gladly keep others who are incompetent. There isn't much of an organizational structure, though there's a lot of talk about reorganization often (this can be good and bad). While there are some really great people, management seem oblivious to certain things, like the extremely low pay. They talk very proudly of the awards that they've won, they seem to think that it's a privilege to work at Booj, but they show a lot of favoritism and don't seem to mind that they pay far below market average. The biggest problem is definitely salary. A game room does not pay the bills. The company could hire much more qualified people, and improve the products drastically, if they were willing to pay an average salary (28k per year for a Project Manager is simply embarrassing). Managers are just those who have been there a long time (whether qualified or not).

As a young, growing company, we indeed struggle to pay the kind of wages that the Googles, Facebooks and other large technology companies are able to pay and who often set the industry average. There are no hidden facts; the wage and the first year's increments are agreed before any applicant accepts the job. All employees are encouraged to carve their own career path, and those who take initiative are often promoted. We often hire for junior positions and cultivate successful individuals to higher roles with more responsibility and higher pay. ` We continue to invest in our company culture and internal processes in order to provide an environment that our employees take pride in and want to be a part of. I hope you find something that fulfills your requirements better and I am sorry that we were not the ideal fit.
