Pros

Made many friends during my year there, some of whom I have been on holiday with etc. Got lots of opportunities to participate in physical activity and fundraising challenges for Macmillan. Personally developed so much due to the responsibility and support I was given.

Cons

Sometimes would work longer than my contracted hours to get things done.

Pros

Great co-workers and the staff discount is very reasonable too; 12.5% off non-Boots branded items and 22.5% off Boots branded items. Also the few days of double discount is great! It's good that uniform is provided and if you need extra, the managers are always quick to order them for you.

Cons

Some managers make unreasonable decisions about our working practices without discussing with the staff who do the job. Lots of gaps in training; we end up training ourselves and each other!

Pros

Great products, reasonable staff discount with additional card for family member, get on with ALL co-workers - such a community feel among the staff, managers are - in the most part - approachable, nice uniform that is comfortable to move in when working on ops, pay rate is also better than expected for myself. I really enjoy how the whole store gets behind events, whether that may be product launches or if it includes dressing according to a theme. Christmas is a great atmosphere too. Always given new things to learn and try, some with increased responsibility.

Cons

As a member of weekend staff with less than 10 hours a week, we are sometimes left out of the loop regarding offers and product launches etc. There are also few people who can perform overrides on the tills and deal with faulty vouchers etc, which is difficult when there is a queue forming and no available staff to help out. Till space is very small and without seating - which isn't easy when working a 4-5 hour shift with no break. Would be better if the tills were perhaps lined with small conveyor belts and seating, allowing ease of using baskets and trolleys and providing space to work efficiently.
