Pros

As far as the automotive supplier industry is concerned, this is one of the better companies to work for. They offer good compensation and opportunities for advancement.

Cons

The industry is struggling a great deal, thus there has been significant downsizing. The company itself has few downsides.

Pros

Relatively stable employment - even low performers are retained for long periods of time. Compensation package is average to better than average. If you are eligible for stock options, the stock has done very well in recent years.

Cons

Function w/in which I operated (HR) was neglected. HR Leadership lacked dynamism, global perspective. Businesses operated very independently and it was difficult to consolidate information at the HQ level (which was required for SEC reporting, for example). HRIS technology was almost completely lacking - much of the information was kept in disparate Access/Excel files and fraught with errors.

Pros

Work isn't difficult at all. In fact, there isn't really any work that gets done around there. Just show up roughly 40 hours a week, keep your head down, and hope you don't get laid off when management announces sweeping personnel reductions.

Cons

Horrible organization, bureaucracy stifles any chance of new ideas being put into action. Mountains of paperwork dominate the landscape. No actual engineering, just "contain, identify root cause, create action plan"...and by then the problem has likely fixed itself. The organization treats the bulk of its workforce, the poor hourly employees, horribly. This company is a bloated dinosaur, creaking under the weight of its own outdated infrastructure.
