Pros
The best things are that you feel as an important part of society by helping blind and visually impaired people become independent. The company is very supportive when it comes to having to take time off. The health and dental plans are very good Although that's starting to fade away. The vision plan is completely free. Pension for those that were hired before 2008 is also very good. Also, promotions are mainly from inside.
Cons
Compensation isn't as great as the benefits, but that's expected from a non-profit organization. However, senior management's salaries rival those of for-profit companies. even though promotions are from inside, they are hard to come by. Braille is over-employed and the people there worked at Braille on average over 15 years. Also, growth is seniority based, no matter how hard and well you perform.
