Pros

If you work in Cleveland or HQ you are royalty! If you are in sales, you will make a KILLING! Lucky you.

Cons

If you are in Customer Success you'll get alarmed by all the shady sales deals of overly aggressive sales associates. They get paid a disgusting amount of money and seemingly have no incentive to be truthful or solutions oriented. Gross. In CS, you'll be paid an average salary. Nothing extraordinary. The customers are nice but usually frustrated by the product and contract.

Pros

The people you will meet and work with on a daily basis are extremely talented, intelligent and hard working. They are the reason why you go to work every day. They are the reason why its difficult to walk away and find new employment. They are the reason why you put up with with the micro-managing senior leadership team.

Cons

I'm beginning to see a lot of positive posts again on the BrightEdge review board which only leads me to believe that management is forcing their staff to post positive reviews. I'm pretty confident of this since the posts are coming from anonymous Account Executives. Anyone who has worked there knows that the Sales department is a revolving door and the staff are treated poorly. Did something suddenly change? Moreover, when I worked there, I'm guilty of posting a fake, positive review and have also witnessed this happen on more than one occasion during my tenure. While you have one department posting fake reviews on Glassdoor, you have others in a separate department being forced to end connections with former employees on LinkedIn. The problem starts at the top but it doesn't end there. You have a couple of leaders that are very smooth talkers (if you can't read between the lines, they are disingenuous) that keep the recruiting going. Once you get in, you quickly realize you made a mistake and now you are part of the unhealthy negative culture that will swallow you whole very quickly. There is another in a leadership position that is a person of faith. You quickly realize that their actions and words are not very christian. There is another leader in another department that should have never been allowed to manage people. The only true VP at this company manages the Marketing group. If you are considering a job with BrightEdge, read these negative reviews before you make a decision. Not to speak in hyperbole but every one of these negative reviews are probably written because each person finally felt like this was the only time they would be heard. They finally have the freedom to speak their mind. I've never done this before. I usually never take the time on something this trivial like posting a negative review.

Pros

First and foremost, it's been confirmed that BrightEdge has hired an agency/firm to leave positive reviews to dilute its Glassdoor score and stories of its business operations. That is not speculation, and it is unfortunate the organization has resorted to misleading candidates instead of fixing their core cultural issues. As for the pros, you will meet talented people that got sold on BrightEdge being a "start-up" and the "RSUs" that will likely be completely worthless if there ever is an exit (I am not a financial advisor - don't listen to me). You will also be challenged - skills, patience and sanity. The BrightEdge playbook (not printed, you just learn on the fly, like how they seem to do everything at BrightEdge) is a very real thing. You will be expected to follow it, without hesitation and without fail, regardless of if it makes sense in any given situation or when you start. Your tolerance will also grow - tolerance for the micromanagement of their "playbook", tolerance for the lack of true leadership across all levels of the organization, and tolerance for the lying, gaslighting, and manipulative tactics they will deploy to get you to fall in line. You will also learn the value of working for another organization that trusts you, because BrightEdge will not, regardless of how many sales you make, Club events you qualify for or revenue you generate. As a "start-up" with 500 people, your thoughts, creativity and opinions will not actually matter, and this will teach you the importance of working for an employer that empowers its people at all levels. You may even get to work with a few cool brands that will eventually realize how expensive BrightEdge is compared to the rest of the market, regardless of the value you demonstrate or EBR you conduct. This will lead to steep discounting on existing or potential products (hindering quota attainment further), assuming they even meet the needs of their business. You will also learn what “oblivious” and “toxic positivity” look like in corporate form as the BrightEdge drones relentlessly speak to their position in the marketplace and the superiority of whatever new processes they just recently implemented on an annual, quarterly or even monthly basis.

Cons

Do yourself a favor by filtering BrightEdge’s Glassdoor reviews to reveal only those with ratings of 3 stars or less. These are not “unruly” SDRs that they will reference during your interview process. These reviews include content that is very real from up, down and across the organization. But, to summarize some of the information you may find… -Rampant Micromanagement at ALL levels -Unobtainable quotas and SPIFFs that will affect your compensation (and morale) -Compensation plans that do not align to the realities of the business -No 401k Match, Tuition Reimbursement -HIGH turnover (60%+ annually!) -Low average tenure (See LinkedIn Insights) -Poor investments in people and training -Unrealistic expectations, low work-life balance -Saturated market (Botify, Conductor, SEM Rush, SEO Clarity, Search Metrics, etc.) -Lack of career growth, but miniscule raises if you do achieve a promotion
