Pros

I will say this for BrightEdge, they do a fabulous job recruiting cool, talented, intelligent people. Their marketing machine is powerful.

Cons

Read the following review with the knowledge that when I started at BrightEdge the CMO asked me to write a favorable review on my first day, which I naively did. Now reading the other positive reviews they strike me as quite similar to my own early, misleading review. Although the people are incredible, the executives set the tone and culture for the company which is why BrightEdge has horrible and ongoing problems with employee attrition, internal unrest and dissatisfaction. It seemed like the entry level people had it the hardest and were treated the worst, but even mid-level executives were struggling with the culture shock and difficulty of maintaining a healthy work life. Transparency and fairness were HUGELY lacking. I can see this with greater perspective now that I'm out of the BrightEdge Marketing Distortion Field, but employees are consistently mislead and even lied to. They are even lied to about their own product which causes them to lie during the sales process, whether they know it or not. One comment I see quite often on these boards is that BrightEdge has the best technology. They don't. There are numerous other platforms and SEO technology that best them in many areas. The number one issue with BrightEdge are the 3 top executives who are brazenly driving towards an exit. It's common in Silicon Valley, but not to the extent where it makes everyone around them miserable. They are not a class act.

Pros

If you can work everyday 16 hours or more including weekends, it could be a good place for you to be.

Cons

If you are a new grad with F-1, think twice to work at BrightEdge, because you almost can not find time to prepare your next interview. Think about coming back home 11pm and start reading careercup or leetcode. Top engineers can escape from this company instead of staying there. There are people in this company getting married in the morning and come to work in the afternoon. Be cautious, there are fake positive reviews as pointed out by other reviewers.

Pros

1. The engineering team has built a solution that delivers real ROI to its customers. The sales team has capitalized on this and built a very impressive customer list that includes numerous fortune 500s. 2. Young company with high energy and potential. Small size means it is easy to see how a business is (mis)managed. 3. They hire the best and brightest from top schools around the country. You'll meet like-minded, hard working people. 4. A lot of life lessons to be learned. You will learn most of these yourself the hard way, but they will be useful down the line.

Cons

I fully agree with two negative reviews posted to this point. Here are some of my thoughts: 1. Managers use their entry level employees as expendable units of labor. Workers who come straight from college find themselves in paid internships with no chance of advancement. 2. Positive reinforcement is a completely foreign concept. They manage through fear, leaving no room to tell workers they've done a single thing well. I cannot stress this point enough. Top performers are consistently made to look like the worst performers in the organization. Resulting morale among entry level employees is abysmal. 3. There is zero training and no investment in personal growth. Don't expect any help from your supervisor. The review citing "over-investment" on employees is absolute balderdash. 4. 40% of what I was told in the interview process was a lie. That included scope for growth, my role in the organization, and training. The other 60% regarding very long and hard hours and their desire for employees who think about nothing but work was true. 5. Management posts misleading portrayals of the company's turnover. In reality, it is extremely high. Over 50% of the non-engineers employed by BrightEdge during my time there were quit or fired (most quit). A significant subset quit after less than one month. Management was the common denominator throughout all of these. 6. Management posts misleading reviews on Glassdoor in an attempt to bury the negative reviews.
