Terrible company with some great people
Pros
- Amazing coworkers! This company brought me to people that I consider to be my friends outside of work - even those who I don’t see outside of work are people I’m excited to be around each day - Work hard play hard mentality - Managers are supportive, they truly want the best for you and celebrate your wins with you - There’s always help available if you need it, despite a job being individual it always feels like you’re part of a team of people who would drop anything to help out - General positive energy - Mostly a pro for me but could be a con to others: it feels like you’re working in a frat, the company is almost too chill which makes the job a miiiiillion times easier - Lots of happy hours - Very lax hybrid or completely remote environment, get your work done but a lot of freedom in terms of when/where you do it
Cons
Some of this is just my personal experience and might not be reflective of everyone who goes through the SDR role - Quantity over quality is often encouraged, not by the fault of managers at all but just because the quota is so high and unattainable for the majority of SDRs to hit on a regular basis, I can’t imagine that this makes AEs roles easier or makes them more productive so I don’t really understand why this is pushed so heavily if the end goal is to close deals? - Company is so disorganized and unprofessional, great baby step/first job for someone who just graduated but I feel wildly unprepared to join my next company - Regularly dehumanizing prospects can sometimes make the work feel pointless, it definitely makes the job a lot easier but it left me with a really icky feeling, not a lot of integrity in the company/role - Also feels icky to put things on AEs calendars that you know with certainty won’t qualify just to hit quota - Complete lack of individuality, we’re robots repeating tasks the same exact way they’ve been done for probably the last 10 years, I think this rings true in a lot of SDR roles but I feel like this company is particularly bad, there are so many other ways to do outreach - If you want to succeed in this role you’re probably going to have to sacrifice a healthy work/life balance (or you’re a machine?), if you put less time in on weekends/late nights your numbers aren’t going to be anywhere near quota - I think I lost brain cells doing this role, I don’t feel like I know anything about our product because the role is dumbed down to just completing robotic tasks over and over, we don’t really develop a passion for what we’re selling - Sales kickoff was embarrassingly bad, leadership was allocated an hour to speak and played 15 different Kobe/basketball and football youtube videos that had absolutely zero substance, they were all about grinding to reach your goal and maybe 1 or 2 would have made sense to play but honestly it felt like they forgot they were supposed to speak, it also felt sort of sexist? I think the whole thing was ineffective for so many reasons but there are female athletes that exist too - Leadership is pretty unapologetic about decisions they make that significantly impact people’s lives, change is super regular and expected (understandable) but I never felt like there was any sympathy for what we were going through when they completely altered our day to day - All the tech we have is broken all the time, not really their fault but why don’t we invest in things that actually work - Despite the fact that there are a million different things that could make this role easier or better there’s never going to be any change as long as the company is benefiting from the way it is now, the company doesn’t care about its employees experiences and will continue to cycle through people with the same tired playbook - If you want to care about or have passion for your job/professional life this is not the company for you, I don’t know a single person who is at BrightEdge because they love it or love what we’re selling or how we sell, I’m passionate about my coworkers but the company itself has very few redeemable qualities other than excellent tech, most of the characteristics of BrightEdge are ones I’ll avoid when evaluating my next company
