Fake company reviews. Be weary!

Pros

Good place to learn your basic skills. Snacks in the office. Good/household name clients.

Cons

Marketing and Recruiting are writing fake employee reviews. Recruiting asked company to write positive reviews during a company-wide meeting. That's alarming! Let employees express the realities of working here: title-obsessed, little value placed on employee happiness, managers are MICRO-managers, high turnover, and decent- but not outstanding benefits. Good place to get your basic skills, but I suggest you leave and invest in a company that truly invests back in your professional growth.

I want to address the writing of reviews. I was the person who conducted the all hands meeting as described in this review and did explain that Glassdoor is one medium companies use to promote their career opportunities. I did in fact ask employees to consider submitting both their interview reviews (for new hires) and their employees reviews, as it increases our awareness on Glassdoor. I did not tell anyone what to write or to write anything fake nor indicate it had to be a positive. We believe in transparency and would hope that if someone is unhappy or has issues, they would first come talk to HR or me. People genuinely love being a part of the BrightEdge team and are proud to be a part of the company. Just because they have provided a positive review does not make it a fake review. Also, we do not have high turnover, quite the opposite, as we are hiring net new employees for 2015 and are continuing to grow.

Fear and loathing in San Mateo

Pros

Great tech, wrapped up with strong client service & support Humble and talented colleagues (not management, with a couple of exceptions)

Cons

Oh, my. What a corrosive, iron-fist culture. Employees are treated like commodities, with the exception of a few pet favorites. Constant hectoring and un-constructive criticism. Some of the managers should never have been given headcount- I can name a handful of full-blown sociopaths.

The worst experience ever

Pros

I really have nothing positive to say.

Cons

They don't care about their employees - expect you to have no home life, the only people who are promoted are those who are happy selling their soul to the company. The managers are not trained at how to manage people, college grads with no idea on how to treat people, no support just intimidation tactics. They talk about promoting quickly for those who show the drive, the ground sales guys are manipulated into thinking they will be an account exec role within no time - this doesn't happen. They take advantage of young college grads who have no previous work experience and no idea of exactly how badly they are being treated, fed rubbish about the company being the best technology, no competition, best company to work for - It really is very sad upon reflection. .
