Females Beware!

Pros

Free food and a modern office space. Decent Pay.

Cons

Toxic, stressful work environment. On numerous occasions my manager was unprofessional and handled situations inappropriately. Its clear he has had zero work experience elsewhere and has been given too much power. He would belittle me and chastise me, call me out for doing something wrong even though I was a top performer. Lines were crossed on many occasions. HR and my mentor were aware of each situation but no action was ever taken.

This is really disappointing to read. I'd never want any employee to feel this way about their experience at Bullhorn. What's concerning to me is your mention of HR's awareness. I know that our Chief People Officer, Kim Castelda, wants to learn more and would like to hear from you. Her email is kcastelda@bullhorn.com. And, if you'd feel more comfortable, I'd be happy to talk to you directly as well: art@bullhorn.com

Dev Team

Pros

There are some okay benefits and the dev department uses libraries that look great on a resume.

Cons

There is a company value that discourages gossip yet the managers in 1:1 meetings only want to talk about co-workers and try to get as many negative comments as possible. They list a benefit as work from home whenever you want without needing a reason yet managers use it as a privilege against employees. Many employees are backstabbers so the team cohesion is low. The reporting structure of the dev team leads to bias, by the team lead, against certain members of the team and for others. The company prefers to hire individuals who want to spend the day talking and playing games rather than hiring for skills and experiences.

Wow... I must admit I am surprised at how critical this review is of Bullhorn's people and culture. There is a clear disconnect between your perspective and how we in R&D view ourselves, our mission, and how we set each other up for success. I'm sorry you left with this view; we missed an opportunity to understand your sentiments prior to your departure. I invite you to reach out so we can have a clear and honest dialog about why you feel so negatively about Bullhorn and what we could have done to prevent this. Please contact me via phone or email so we can discuss. Jay VP, Research & Development

"Not sustainable" - My former manager

Pros

There are some amazing, hard-working and talented individuals at Bullhorn. Honestly -- great products. I believe my customers made the best decision when purchasing Bullhorn.

Cons

I ultimately left because I caught on to the immature culture and was professionally unfulfilled at the hands of my leader. I can say more about poor communication between departments that demonstrates Bullhorn’s inside-out thinking, but I’ll stick to the first point. Micromanagement is not a motivator, nor a way to attract long-term employees or strengthen morale. I've spoken to several others who have recently left. They too were no longer swayed by happy hour culture alone and felt they've outgrown Bullhorn. **When I was hired, my manager actually told me “this isn’t a sustainable lifestyle, but it is a good way to make money for a couple of years before you get married and start a family. If you haven’t noticed, we like to hire people in a certain stage of their life”**. I learned quickly that a certain stage meant people who don't know any better and who never worked for another company for perspective. Not enough experienced adults in this room. It was typical to receive calls and emails at ALL HOURS -no exaggeration- and while on PTO. That stretches beyond 'high expectations' and hits 'drink the Kool-Aid' territory. I highly suggest if you are seeking employment to dig for the negative reviews, as many of the positive reviews seem to appeal more to people of a certain life stage.

Working hard is one thing, but if your manager actually said those things, then that totally goes against our values here as an organization. I'm concerned, as I'm hearing about some of these things you've highlighted for the first time. We've made a number of changes on the sales team in the last 6 months and I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Can we discuss this first hand? Would you email me at mrestivo@bullhorn.com to connect if you are comfortable.
