Pros

Company full of nuggets of brilliance within it's staff who will be truly passionate about their work. A chance to work on some interesting projects and a real opportunity to innovate if willing to do the brunt of the initial work in your own time.

Cons

I have personally found some reticence to invest in bottom up innovation from upper management. Using new software has proven very difficult to get through IT.

Hello Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We endeavour to be a company that is flexible and one which encourages our people to suggest fresh ideas. As we are a relatively small practice and not a conglomerate, we are not tied to endless structured procedures; we do believe this enables us to offer our people more opportunity to have their say and participate in driving new ideas at any level at any time. We recognise that fewer formal procedures can sometimes mean it takes time to implement new ideas, however we equally do not want to become a company that is bound by structure. We do appreciate your feedback and are looking at how we can improve our current approach to further facilitate bottom-up innovation. We hope you have a fulfilling career with us. Pros

I work in one of the structures teams and the people are friendly and willing to discuss problems, successes, and everything in between As a more junior member of staff, I'm given a level of responsibility that can be at once daunting and exciting. I get to walk to work and there are always activities after work and at lunch, whether that's sports, popping into town, pub, or more.

Cons

- A lot of our learning is 'on the job', which is the best way to learn, but sometimes you can feel overwhelmed. To be honest, it's probably a good thing though. - The support and comradery I get from my team isn't necessarily translated across teams. Something that I get the impression of from speaking to colleagues. - There have been some full and frank discussions between my peers on working on projects that we are proud of, and in a way that we are proud of. Hypothetically, if BHE won the competition to build Trump's wall, I would leave the company. Unfortunately there are jobs that we are working on in countries where there are well known Human Rights violations and inequality which I don't believe are much better.

Hello, Thanks for sharing your thoughts. We're really pleased that you feel you are given a good level of responsibility (that both excites and challenges you), and enjoy working with your colleagues. Regarding projects: there is certainly no intention that BuroHappold should work on any project such as this; this doesn’t align with our principles. We do have a governing body who review all projects to ensure they comply with our Ethics policy. We also have a modern slavery statement to ensure that our work is not associated with human trafficking. As a business, we always want to be promoting ethical projects and are committed to ensuring we continue to do this; through some of our collaborations we’re actually supporting the development of industries away from oil, and leading them into greater integration globally. All the best The BuroHappold Team
