Pros

1- Great projects to work on 2- Very smart people ( senior/engineer level) to work with 3- opportunities to work in different offices ( countries)

Cons

1- partners obviously do not get along with each other 2- too many mangers (all westerns) in the office and that is why the middle offices ( especially Dubai) are too expensive. In Dubai, there are 3 partners, one country director, two group directors, two technical director, four associate directors, and around five associates ( two if them design and the rest are dead load). Literally there is only around 18 senior/ engineer people to do the work ( from all majors like structure, MEP, sustainability, Fire tram) 3- too much competition between managers 4- If you are a British person , you WILL do well and no question about regardless of your qualifications ( really high salary, easy path up the ladder etc . Second class is the European. British/ europeans do whatever they want and no one question them . One of them was flirting with an intern and hooking her up with a lot of things. He got her two internships and then permanent job : ) Some of them non-westerns start butt kissing the westerns because they know that is the only way to have an easy life in the office I GOT A LOT OF TRUE STORIES TO TELL REGARDING THIS POINT. 5- Too high turnover among employees due to extremely high politics 6- proper project management is something they NEVER HEARD of. Those great projects they bring become too messy to work on. However, the senior/ engineer always save those managers' butts. 7- Burohapplold has been in the industry for 40 year and up to this moment they do not have proper graduate scheme ( program) in the middle east.

Great if you're a male engineer - terrible if you're anything else

Pros

Lots of young, good engineers who know their subject matter. Good lines of communication with senior staff, including partnership - even interns and partners talk comfortably. Good reputation in the industry. Central location - just off Oxford Street. Good culture if you're a young engineer, including very active Young Engineers Forum and lots of lunch time seminars etc. POETS day - each last Friday of the month, all staff finish at 3pm.

Cons

Company doesn't understand how to foster talent in the supporting services - finance, IT etc. Lose people all the time. Lack of understanding by engineers about what other people do - results in people being asked to do things outside of their remit constantly. Lots of cliché sexism, including young females being asked to do administrative tasks when it's not their role. Partnership has a lot of 'old boys' that are culturally stuck in another century.

Pros

Just to note: this is a compiled comments from several colleagues in the grad/eng level - Interesting projects - Office in great location - Multi-disciplinary - Exposure to architect and univs. - Flexible hours - Great socials

Cons

- Lack of leadership/senior presence. Lack of direction and guidance from seniors. They are more like jobs not job leaders. Therefore resulting in young engineers running around like headless chickens/ working in silos (most would seek answers google and read from textbooks). Even worse, at end of the day, no checks/review are done on the work, wouldn't be surprised to see some works end up in CROSS newsletters someday - Office is not a healthy environment to work, bad washrooms, really stuffy at times, loud like a mess hall, people often get headache - Management lack of honesty and transparency, resourcing doesn't reflect actual work load since it is done by people who doesn't do the work. No suprise - Bad support, several occurrences of IT and HR being so unresponsive that it end up ruin someone's issue/future (an intern wouldn't get an offer since they 'forgot'). Lack of quality technical training, CPDs have to be found outside of the office - Bad/inflexible promotion scheme
