"Meh" at best

Pros

Decent pay, chance to work with motivated students. Plenty of texts and materials to pull from. Solid position for fresh college grads looking to make some money.

Cons

Last minute cancellations on top of a constantly changing schedule. Difficulty providing quality instruction to up to five students at a time -- all studying different topics at different levels. Pressured to push more sessions, even when it clearly won't benefit the student.

Mostly great kids, poor management

Pros

kids were fun and many of them were bright

Cons

Management had very poor communication skills, almost as if she wasn't fluent in English. Seemed to lack basic understanding of politeness in friendly conversation, made employees feel uncomfortable and seemed to only care about pleasing parents. Simply put, C2's 3:1 (students to tutor) model does not/can not work out to a full 2 hours of 1:1 attention. It just can't. Especially because each student is studying different material. Management would promise parents that their child(ren) would receive undivided attention for 2 full hours (and sessions are often only 1:45), and then criticize tutors when that wouldn't pan out. Management would also encourage tutors to arrive early to spend extra time preparing for students, but this extra preparation time is not paid! The commute was terrible (worked at Duluth location, live near downtown)

Thank you for your feedback. We are so proud of our fun, bright students! The management team has recognized the need and made significant strides to improve the channels of communication throughout the organization. In addition to providing ways for management to better communicate with our employees, we’re providing more ways for our employees to communicate to management. Some examples include company-wide employee surveys, a method for sharing suggestions and ideas, and we are working to include opportunities for teachers to give feedback on upcoming initiatives. Our 3:1 student teacher ratio has many benefits and allows us to fulfill the many needs of our students, including making sure students don’t need to find a new tutor for every subject they need help with. We continue to improve our training to provide more tools and support around how to balance the various needs of our students in the 3:1 environment.
