Pros

The work is meaningful and students do benefit from the tutoring. As a tutor, the lessons are basically prepared for you, so it's just a matter of following along in the book. The kids are hard working and fun!

Cons

The pay is TERRIBLE for what they ask you to do. You are expected to work with up to three students at a time, all of whom are working on different subjects/tasks. So you are constantly shuffling and going back and forth between students, and never really feel like you can spend a meaningful amount of time with one without having others waiting for you. The tutor also has to prepare before the session and write up notes after the session, and if you go beyond the 10 minute period they give you for that, you won't get paid extra. It's a good job for recent college graduates, but not worth it for people with advanced education or careers.

Upper Level Management Fails To Lead

Pros

Employees are paid on time.

Cons

C2 Education unfortunately has poorly trained senior level management, regional directors, and district managers. What I found working here is that these senior level management employees are training the life force of the company; center directors, assistant center directors, tutors, without any experience in the positions themselves. In addition many of the management team come from completely different industries such as Starbucks (including current CEO) where marketing strategies to obtain students have failed miserably. The most important employees, the center directors, are constantly harassed to sell without any emphasis on helping the families and students. Any business relies on sales but when management has little to no experience and can't lead by example then this will lead to poor employee satisfaction. District managers and regional directors in particular are not effective positions. These employees have little direction and are only great at sending motivational emails to employees to sell tutoring packages. Unfortunately since most of them have not actually conducted an enrollment conference, and can't review practice assessments correctly, this leads to poorly trained center directors and ultimately unsatisfied families. C2 can not be run like a Starbucks coffee chain. The review stars are low across the board because senior management needs to actually learn how to run a tutoring company. Hiring educators that have in the field experience will help in producing a competent work force.
