Pros

High energy work culture Balanced with plenty of on site spiffy and rewards. You truly won't want to go home. You may feel compelled to make this organization an extension of your family. The management does invite collaborative constructive communication as long as it is filtered and completely in line with the owners hidden agenda.

Cons

No transparency. Change is constant and should be a positive but since there is no clear path nor idea as to when that communication is driven to a healthy resolve, the air of "am I next to get the axe" is constant. Hard work and honesty is rewarded and punished the same. One day you are honored for the level of communication you bring, the next day you can be punished for the exact same situation or energy you brought the day before. Blind siding is not the same as change for the better

Pros

Acceptable Pay & Benefits.

Cons

A (now ex) coworker was a good worker: he got good performance reviews, was a good teammate who helped out other employees, and just generally cared about the company and the work he did. He showed up one day and they fired him. No real reason. The owner just didn't like him. This guy has a family to support and had no idea this was coming, Sadly, this is not a lone occurrence at CBT Nuggets. Lots of good employees have been let go without any warning for no good reason. There is literally no job security here. Even people who like risk will find the turnover here just too high. Definitely not worth it. The communication here is terrible. They’re great about letting you know the lunch menu or what kind of coffee is in the maker, but important information is left to trickle through the grapevine, like a particularly annoying game of telephone. But this is not surprising, the owner acts like a child for whom the company is one big game.

Pros

There are some definite pros here: good pay and benefits, beautiful office with a nice view, catered lunch and free (good) coffee.

Cons

The owner fails to understand that even when you’re trying to create a fun, non-stuffy culture, you still need to have some basic respect for your employees. This guy is beyond inappropriate. Here’s just a sampling of some of the things you can count on from him: Trash talking and revealing personal information about former and current employees. Yelling at and criticizing employees loudly and in front of others. Disgusting practical jokes on employees involving feces. Harassing women and embarrassing them in front of others by calling them names and making perverted jokes. Making ridiculous business decisions that have terrible outcomes and then punishing employees for it. Working here is a humiliating experience. I wouldn’t refer anyone to CBT Nuggets.
