Pros

Get paid more than minimum wage and only work an 6 hour shift

Cons

If you do not enjoy sales you wont enjoy this. Unreasonable working conditions (small office for 20 employees to meet in;15 minutes to clean up a whole day of cooking to health cod standards). Treated like a number. Company obsessed with making money

Pros

Ability to interact with the public. Free food. Camaraderie with fellow economic refugees: almost 90% are over 50 years old. May of us are college educated and have had good work careers but unable to find better paying work due to many factors, including being laid off in the Great Recession and then unable to find a similar well paying work situation. Many feel this is due to an "unspoken reason" that we are mature adults over age 50. This seems to be a very common denominator.

Cons

Treated like 2nd graders Almost unreachable sales goals for a measly $40 bonus All CDS sales associates work in Costco. That said, the pay disparity between what a lowly starting Costco floor associate makes vs a CDS sales associate makes are HUGE! There are CDS sales associates with 10 plus years of service making exactly what a newly hired person makes. It's crazy.

Pros

High pay for the time worked. Flexible hours for people who are on disability or in school. Kind management team. Flexibility towards personal life problems. Despite a lot of my complaints this is certainly the place I was treated the best of all the bosses I ever had. And I value that more than anything. I made a lot of contacts here both as personal friends and colleagues. I know that I can always return if need be. And it was a stepping stone for me in a bad time in my life. My Reynauds disability was not mocked or questioned once. (A cold sensitivity) I was always accommodated by not just my manager but also my co workers went out of their way to put things in the freezer for me and switched demonstrations with me when i didn’t feel confident I could do it properly. In the past jobs haven’t taken my hip issues, neck arthritis, reynauds, etc seriously and thought I was trying to get out of working certain shifts. I was never treated that way here and it’s probably the thing I’ll miss the most. I was treated like a person not a number. It’s easy to request a day off of work or take a lot of vacation if you don’t plan on being management.

Cons

Hours are oftentimes given last minute or taken away last minute. Lack of hours despite my positive outlook on the management team is what made me look elsewhere. Rude customers and lines make a lot of people anxious. I’ve seen co workers have anxiety attack’s over it. It’s an incredible amount of stress because people are demanding. A sexual harassment case this past winter rocked the foundation of the Allentown location. It was incredibly messy. And I feel as though management skirted the issue because it was a new thing for them to deal with it. But leaving employees in silence did two things: 1. Made us worry about it happening again because we weren’t sure if she was fired for a long time. 2. A lack of communication made it feel like the same situation could arise at any time. No one is provided Human Resources number to make a complaint about sexual harassment. We have to dig for the information. The situation left many feeling unsafe at work and untrusting of management .
