CDW.. advanced technology ... oops I did it again... we screwed up an attempt at high end customized services.
Pros
It is a job, pay is not bad, can work at home, engineering talent (getting thinner by the day), reminiscing about the Berbee days.
Cons
1) Association to CDW 2) Sales Integration -- We are redoing the sales integration again. The previous attempts were failures. Its been over 2 years and it is still not right. 3) Focus on product over professional services --- Focus is on hardware with a gp of under 10%, while services render over 40%. 4) Professional Services given away for free -- hard to hit your bonus when your goals on revenue compared to your salary, and ur hourly rate keeps going down down down, so your sales person can get on that sales person cruise.. then your sales person will get hit with paying all the taxes for their trip. 5) Legacy CDW Failure to Perform -- Products are never in stock, and prices are higher than the competition. It is completely embarassing to be on-site with a customer and them cancelling orders with CDW because we are not competitive and we do not have anything in stock. 6) Retirement Plan -- No Pension. No 401k match ever. The closest we ever get is a profit sharing plan. So any retirement funding is 100% optional. What profit are we going to have since we are owned by Private equity. 7) Benefits -- Health insurance is expensive. For a professional services company, we should have bettter. Especially since we are self-insured an many of us are low risk.. you know 18-24 year olds. How can the telco's who have many 55+ men, have better rates than us. 8) Respect -- Could we get a little respect here. We are traveling away from our families to make you money and could you maybe trust the employee?
