Pros

People were easy to work with and managers were fair and understanding. They have a good variety of projects. The firm is growing both organically and through acquisitions. This is always good to hear for employees because it offers more opportunity and stability.

Cons

Pay is average for a firm of this size. Nothing special about the firm for the industry. They started cutting some portions of paid overtime for salary exempt employees and tried to sell it as industry standard (although not sure it is when weighing the rest of their benefits package). In 2019 they changed their vacation policy (amount of days accrued) so that it took longer to get more days unless you were high up in the management chain. This is all due to the ownership structure. The firm is owned by First Reserve and is not employee-owned. Engineers working at a more employee-focused (e.g. employee owned) firm would get better pay and benefits.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this thorough review. It's great to see that overall you were pleased with your experience while working at CHA. We take pride in our rigorous market research and have built a benefits package that is highly competitive within our industry. Although there have been some changes over the last couple of years to align our practices with those of our industry peers, there has also been significant progress in enhancing our health and welfare programs to offer more robust and affordable options to our staff. We will continue to be proactive with our approach to ensuring our benefits program meets or exceeds the need of our employees and their families.

My boss was receptive to plugging me in with other offices' projects to keep my interests piqued.

Cons

The culture was less than exciting. I didn't feel like I could connect with many of the employees at the company.

Hello there! Thank you for your feedback. It's unfortunate that you had trouble connecting on a personal level with many of our employees. During this time when most of us are working remotely we are trying our best to keep our teams feeling connected, but it is certainly a challenge. We continue to promote positive employee connections through various means such as our Mentoring Program, Accelerator Program, Communities of Practice, and more. We commit to continuing to focus on ways to ensure connections are being made, regardless of geography or circumstance.

CHA offers competitive compensation and benefits to our team members and we’re glad you were happy with those offerings. We hear you regarding communication becoming more challenging as we continue to grow as an organization. Now more than ever, it's important for us to ensure our communication is timely and relevant. Our company wide town hall events and very active intranet site, are just two ways we are focusing more than ever on sharing information. Thank you for your feedback.
