Pros

Excellent mission, dedicated staff, decent benefits

Cons

Top-heavy administration filled with non-clinical staff who are inexperienced and largely inept. Nepotism and favoritism in many of the locations, depending on who is Clinic Administrator. Draconian paid time off policy (PTO) where new employees cannot take leave for 90 days, and if they must due to illness or personal emergency, they lose the 20 hours of PTO accrual for that month. Illegal salary practice of not paying providers what they are supposed to receive according to CHAS's status as a federally qualified health center. Rampant lack of professionalism and inappropriate language/behaviors that occur in patient areas and are not addressed by management. Justifiable fear of retaliation (e.g., being fired) if you do not "fly under the radar" and voice reasonable employee issues. Unfortunately, as one of the largest healthcare providers in the area, many providers have no other choice.

Pros

Most CHAS staff are good, hardworking people that show up to do their best every day. The benefits are good; the PTO is nice to have, and you get some perks or goodies every now and then.

Cons

Leadership, especially the higher tiers at administration. Poor communication, no regard for staff health and wellbeing (specifically mental health from burnout), top down projects with no regard on how it impacts the jobs of those who work at clinics, and would rather focus on encounters for profit versus providing quality healthcare that focuses on the patient. Luckily providers and their staff will ignore that and do their best anyway.

Pros

Good pay Good pto Good benefits

Cons

Management is toxic. None of the management have attended more than highschool so if that tells you anything. It’s a good boys club - who knows who and no one who actually knows their job is going to get promoted or good raises. They don’t fire people unless they have a grudge against them. But they will keep the employees who are getting hippa violation after hippa violation. They keep those employees AND give them raises and promotions. They do this because management doesn’t want to handle the issues themselves so they keep passing the problem to other departments. CHAS is based off grants etc tax payer money and other avenues. And I can tell you from experience that your money is being wasted. Half the time they create roles that don’t do anything to give their friends a promotion and job. So most the time these people are standing around talking, online shopping, or just causing problems. The people are sneaky and conniving. It’s like highschool all over again - but with people only having graduated from highschool one should not be surprised of that. The managers and supervisors and admin are lazy. From the lowest man on the totem pole. The people on the floor are working the hardest and getting the least compensation. The values of the company and the mission are amazing it’s why I wanted to be an employee there. However they don’t follow any of it. I can’t tell you any admin or upper management in any clinic who truly follows the values.
