Pros

CHG prides itself on its culture, and it's definitely something to be proud of. There are some very talented people in every facet of the business, and with no signs of growth slowing down anytime in the near future, it's good place to be.

Cons

After thinking for years that the grass isn't greener on the other side, I've come to realize that simply isn't true. I'm not saying CHG isn't a great place to work, but they make you believe it's the only place. In today's world, companies are all realizing you need to have a strong culture if you want an engaged workforce, and though CHG helped pioneer this approach, they've lost sight of several important factors along the way, as exhibited in their once strong fortune 100 ranking at #3 to currently sitting at #69. It's no secret CHG doesn't often pay market value to its employees. The justification is, they offer great incentives in place of paying top dollar, such as work/life balance, an onsite gym and health clinic, a president's club trip for top performers, an entire week dedicated to appreciating employees and other things like the occasional free lunch, parties, giftcards, etc. At the end of the day, those are nice to have things, but there really is no replacing the value of being fairly compensated. The benefits package offered is par at best. The 401k match is practically nonexistent, the costs are expensive (but if you attend a ton of lunch and learns, they'll knock it down a few bucks). Some of the leaders in place really shouldn't be leaders if the core values are supposed to set the bar of excellence. There is a lack of respect, clear cut favorites and double standards. Disagree with your leader and expect to be excommunicated. Make your executives aware of what's going on, and prepare to sit and wait for months or years for any action to be taken. What's really preventing CHG from being a powerhouse again is its inability to back up everything they preach. Authenticity and transparency used to be valued, but now, if you just just say the right things or play the role of putting people first without truly living it out, you can excel here and pretend to make a difference.

Pros

At least the company makes an effort to have a positive company culture.

Cons

This company is a mixed bag for a variety of reasons and your experience will probably depend on what department you work for, which manager and where. The IT department has some people who are good to work with and others not so much. In my time there I worked with development, test, and business analysis. The IT test group has two managers. The reasons for this are never made clear nor when you start are you told what each of them does or who you actually report to. There is a lot of disorganization and micro-management in general in this group. In addition, the company places a moratorium on how long you have to work there (about a year) before you can work remotely. Never ran into this before in other companies in the area and find this to be counter-productive (and not conducive to work/life balance). The company’s website trumpets their awards for being a best place to work. However what I learned is that this only pertains to how the company relates to an employee and often not necessarily how employees relate to each other.

Pros

If you work hard and want to be able to excel with no sales background you could wind up learning from top trainers and doing well. After training though watch which division and manager you get!

Cons

I am amazed this company keeps getting more worried about the bottom dollar. Yes, they can train people but in all honesty if you come with sales experience you should look to a different company. If you want a stepping stone and are young then could be a great start. Yes, the kook aid if you can choke it down is all about a marketing concept that putting people first (which they DO NOT) is going to mean you as in any corporation are a yes person. They will promote leaders who are not true leaders and as long as you love meetings that have nothing to do with helping and putting people first you will be good. I personally dislike wasting my time and for a company who does care about the bottom dollar in more than one situation I have seen it they are a corporation. I don't feel they understand a lot of what actually it takes to be in sales there. The nurses at the free clinic even state how stressful they see the position. Yet when management knows we are stressed they keep piling it on. I have heard more than one person state they are afraid of losing their job because they don't make enough calls or don't put on revenue.
