Pros

- Pay can be quite decent for China - Not too heavy workload, better than teaching English - Nice office - Good looking coworkers

Cons

- Get the worst of both worlds: from nitpicky clients and phony upper management - HR policies are super deceiving, you have to pay for your own visa as a foreigner - No additional benefits - Fake reviews on Glassdoor (reviews of over 3 stars are made by Marketing and HR teams)

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed the office and enjoyed your time in your job with CSOFT and found the workload to be appropriate. We are sorry to hear about your negative experiences but appreciate your point about clients, upper management and HR. At CSOFT, we comply within the respective company regulations, and we regularly update policies according to Chinese laws. We do the best we can to help and sponsor our foreign employees' visas to China within our budget for payment for our collaborative visa agents. Managers strive to provide realistic deadlines and to set fair expectations of each employee and we appreciate the efforts of all of our employees. CSOFT does not support the creation of fake employee reviews and aims at taking the time to read all company reviews with an open and fair attitude. We thank you again for your honest comments.

We appreciate your feedback, it's important for us to learn more about the perception of our management structure. While CSOFT is an international company, we do experience a lot of cultural influence from our staff. In China, its quite common for people to not want to approach upper management with questions or concerns. We work hard to try to change this cultural norm in order to make the office a comfortable experience for all our employees. CSOFT provides question and answer sessions with the CEO and direct access to upper management in order to encourage people to reach out. We encourage questions, suggestions, comments, and constructive criticism from all of our employees in order to create a transparent work space.

Pros

The office space is nice, often too nice to lure prospective clients. The work is fair generally and there is not too much overbearing management. Basically you are just fixing Ching-lish all day for companies trying to appear international. Not bad for a first gig out of college....

Cons

...but also not a career building company. Foreign employees are just cattle which is pretty typical in Chinese owned companies. No holidays, low pay, no fringe benefits like visa, housing costs or flight reimbursements. Access to management is there if you really want but ultimately pointless. If you are foreign, your thoughts mean nothing. there are loads of disillusion expats in the company with hyper-career focused minds that think they matter, but just foreign face syndrome. Editing Ching-lish with nicer sounding job titles.

We are so sorry to hear that you felt so undervalued during your time at CSOFT. We do strive to be a workspace which allows growth opportunities for all of our employees and to create an office culture where people have easy access to the decision-makers within the company. It is always sad to hear when an employee of ours has not felt this way. We want to stress that we do value our employees thoughts and feedback and we continue to make efforts to open up communication channels between upper management and our employees. We have set up reviews after 3 months and after 1 year during which managers provide feedback, and set up goals with each employee and also encourage managers to meet with employees for review throughout the year. We really appreciate your comments and feedback and are making every effort to take them under advisement as our office continues to grow.
