Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It’s wonderful to hear that you appreciate the good compensation and the great people you work with. Having a supportive team is essential for a positive work experience. Room to grow is a valuable aspect in any workplace. Opportunities for professional development and advancement contribute significantly to job satisfaction. While Microsoft Office is a powerful suite of tools, it’s true some users find certain aspects challenging. Please check with your leader and the Learning team about training opportunities to become a Microsoft Office master. Thank you for all your contributions to Canvas. We appreciate you!

Hello, I’m sorry your experience here isn’t great. Given the time we spend at work, finding a place where you can be happy is something we want for everyone. We understand that we are far from perfect and look to our employees to help lead the charge to higher engagement. As you know, we spend a lot of time listening, understanding, and deciding how to positively impact our culture. Whether it’s engagement surveys, skip levels, one on one’s, and so on, we’re committed to understanding how we can grow as a leadership team. Interestingly, we survey so much that our lowest scoring area is “survey fatigue.” That said, what good is asking for feedback if we aren’t doing something about it? Over the last 4 years, we’ve facilitated a number of grassroots groups (we call them Squads) tasked with improving engagement. These Squads have delivered on some innovative and impactful initiatives. This year, we distributed engagement results down to the individual level and hosted small group discussions on the feedback. In terms of leadership and performance feedback, I’ve spent a lot of time digging into how this is delivered on the Learning Team. I’m confident that everyone has the opportunity to obtain feedback from their leadership. This happens through formal meetings with their leader, as well as ad hoc discussions as needed. We also encourage peer-to-peer feedback and recognize that we have opportunity to help upskill our people on how to deliver and receive feedback. I’d also add that we empower our team to manage up through our employee-driven feedback program. MyCanvas chats are designed to put you in charge of advocating for your performance and obtaining the feedback you need to be successful. The last thing we want are surprises, especially if there is a performance concern. I’d encourage you to schedule a time with myself, or your leadership to share your perspectives and understand the areas where you and Canvas can grow. If after you have done this and still don’t feel great, let us know and we can discuss what leaving Canvas gracefully could look like. We can help support time for searching for a new job where you can be happier. I’d even be happy to help with resume and interview tips. We’re proud of our culture and recognize that we’re not the right fit for everyone. ~ Ryan Brown, VP People & Culture
