Pros

Very talented employees, and nice offices.

Cons

1. Diversity: If the goal is to work for a company that has little diversity, parades D&I around for show, and does not actually take action but instead has meeting after meeting discussing what “can” be done. This is the place for you. This is the topic that is the pinnacle of their gaslighting. They continuously act as if they are making strides with diversity but in reality they take unbiased training over and over and are convinced that it will resolve their issues. In reality CapTech does not want to be held accountable for their lack of diversity, and does not take action unless it is financially beneficial for them. All you see and hear at CapTech are the micro-aggressions, which make it a defeating place to work for as an employee and with as a client. 2. Bullying: When you speak truth to power there are consequences. You may not see it coming, but it almost always comes in a form of abuse. CapTech protects the people they want to. When there is someone in question that upper management likes they are given excuses for their bad behavior: “maybe he is going through something”. If upper management is not on your side you are surely going to feel isolated. They throw mental health around like it’s a toy: “I don’t know what’s going on at home but….” 3. Boys Club: Men are consistently promoted over women and PAID MORE. They hold higher positions of power. There is a STRONG white male culture, and the only way to get promoted is to play alongside one of these men in power. 4. Sexual Harassment: Many female employees have reported sexual harassment. Pre-COVID it was rampant at almost all CapTech events. HR supposedly addresses these issues but action is rarely taken, and HR is usually friends with the accused.

Pros

The company started furloughs, and I resigned before things got ridiculous.

Cons

CapTech is a staff augmentation company that hires only Virginia college graduates. They have a kitchen sink approach when it comes to staffing. They throw everything at the wall to see what sticks. Your personal development will follow this pattern, if at all. The promotion process is opaque and arbitrary, but the company always says that a better process is just a day away. At times I felt like no one was in control of the company. HR seems to be somewhat immature and has knee jerk reactions when it came to responding to various mini-scandals during my time I would caution anyone who is looking to continue their employment or looking to join CapTech. Similar consulting firms were much better positioned than CapTech so don’t buy the “coronavirus fundamentally changed our world” line. They're hiring new staff while keeping large quantities of people on unpaid furlough. Don't worry - they'll charge you for the health care when they deign to bring you back on board. It's one example, but current employees and real reviewers will tell you that it's just one of many ways that the company always lets you know where you stand

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I’m sorry to hear about your frustrating experience. Our CapTechers are our priority and it is unfortunate that your time with us was not the CapTech experience we strive for, causing you to resign. For clarification, we do post our college positions nationally, reaching college students across the US, while having a physical recruiting presence on campuses that are close to all 8 of our locations. Our last couple of recruiting seasons have had an amazing variety of schools represented, helping to create some great educational diversity. Additionally, we’re happy to see the successes coming out of our COVID-19 response plan and our clients returning to work, resulting in many CapTechers returning from furlough. Thank you for your contribution during your career with CapTech, and your feedback. If you ever wish to reconsider employment with us, feel free to reach out to me directly to discuss any concerns you may have. –Katy Apostolides, HR Director

Pros

-Flat network so you don’t run into the toxic competition that can result from a company culture that places a lot of weight on hierarchy. -Access to leadership and opportunities in a really amazing way that makes it easy for you to grow and shape your own career. -Coworkers who treat you with respect and are really pleasant to work with. -Generally the culture is very empowering in a way that is unique. You don’t feel like you’re just another warm body- you know you have been hired because the company sees your value.

Cons

-Internal operations may not be as mature as you might find at a large, top five consulting firm, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing all of the time. It actually can be an opportunity for you to shape how things are done- you’re definitely at a company that encourages new ways of thinking and doing things.

Thank you for your review. We do put our CapTechers first and value how much you contribute to our clients’ and CapTech’s success. With such fast-paced growth over many years, it’s true that we have not been able to keep pace with our internal operations’ growth. This was a significant focus of our 2020 goals and investments prior to the interim COVID-19 shift. In the meantime, it remains at the top of our list, and we will continue to improve where we can. Thank you for all you do. --Katy Apostolides, HR Director
