Pros

Benefits are great, and in some groups there's the sense of being part of a team working towards a common goal.

Cons

The company is trying to act like a tech firm, and it's not a tech firm. New hires from other industries are now driving the culture and discounting the experience of experienced senior employees at all levels. They're acting like marketing is the product instead of consistent investment results. And don't buy the "grow with Capital" dog and pony show. Unless you're a young white man with the right degree/designation, chances of advancement are slim indeed.

Pros

Great benefits and retirement plan

Cons

Marketing dept in constant reorg mode. Senior managers have no idea what it takes to actually get work done. Permanent employees spend tons of time getting contractors up to speed only to have them have to leave 18 months later. Layoffs (or pushing people out) are becoming more and more common. Respect from senior leaders is non-existent - and it’s the CMO who is setting the tone.

Pros

Good reputation in the industry. Great benefits. 15% contribution to retirement plan. Friendly coworkers.

Cons

Recent erosion in values and ethics - leaders just talk the talk. HR has to protect business leaders and cover up their bad behavior, targeting and penalizing anyone who speaks up or takes a risk and is seen as a ‘troublemaker’. Recent layoffs are an illustration. The place has a long memory and will sweet talk you, then quietly side line or get rid of you. HR dismisses and manages bad reviews on Glassdoor. They will periodically email select associates and encourage them to write reviews, which most do. This effectively buries the negative review. Most associates post brief positive reviews when prompted like this, because they aren’t sure what HR tracks. Bottom line - be skeptical about what management or HR says. And if you can, find a better place to work.
