Pros

Some of the best reasons to work for Capital were they had never had a layoff until this month, they offer a very nice compensation package, wonderful health and education benefits, and their Master Retirement plan is awesome. They hire world class talent and have a special culture that tries to promote nice and equitable treatment of all associates. If I had my choice, I would never leave and would stay here until I retire. If you can get hired here, you will be very happy!

Cons

Some of the downsides are that you trade high compensation for stability. Growth takes a long time and it can be very challenging to get promoted depending upon your business department. Recent downside was the layoff, however, compared to other companies they were minimal.

Pros

It builds your communication skills having to solve problems over the phone.

Cons

If you are a "Shareholder Account Rep" you are basically working in a call center, no matter what American Funds/Cap Group Companies wants to call it. Therefore, the downside is being on the phone nonstop for a minimum of seven hours a day. All in all, this wasn't a good match with my skill set and the career path I wanted to take in life.

Pros

Associates are treated fairly. Capital provides great benefits, a generous retirement program, and competitive salaries. (Not the highest necessarily but competitive.) Most Senior leaders have been in the industry or with the company for some time.Collaborative environment. Middle managers are typically less experienced which is really just a reflection on the reasonalble growth opportunities

Cons

Sometimes difficult to understand and navigate within the organization. Understanding communications channels is a must. Fairly steep curve learning the culture but it's one that's built on respect and collaboration. Despite recent reductions, which no company is immune to, there are good career opportunities. Most folks stay for a long time.
