Pros
- decent benefits - engineering leadership understands and is sympathetic to how annoying it is to get anything done here
Cons
- Cargomatic is not a tech company. it is a logistics company that happens to have an engineering department. - unexpected layoffs. three have happened in the last 9 months - promotions do not happen. and if they do, they only come with 5% increased pay and 43% more work - CTOs (yes, plural) micromanage developers - there are two CTOs and they are equally as useless. they do not understand how to engineer software. their KPIs do not make sense - one of the KPIs the CTO has set is “hiring and retaining top talent” but the pay is very low, 3 engineers have quit in the last year, and nobody new has been hired - upper management has foolishly entrusted off-shore teams with mission critical features or areas responsible for high revenue streams. those areas are buggy and fragile. the bugs are then forced into the domestic teams’ workloads - equity clauses in contracts are not honored. quite a few people who were promised equity in their contracts have been continuously denied their equity after completing the vesting schedule - the chief operating officer has said on multiple occasions throughout the years that he would love to fire all of the operations staff (????) - no diversity. there’s only one woman in engineering
