The negative rating on glassdoor for this company is completely justified.

Pros

If you like to sit in crowd: the cube space is very limited and there are no cube walls either, so you are basically eyeball-to-eyeball with all the people sitting around you - God help you if you don't get along with any of them. If you are a rude and free speech person, it is a good place to be : you are protected in this company! HR and management always protect employees who violate ethical and moral standards, with the result that they feel they can say and do anything without facing any consequences for their offensive behavior. A good place to excise your immune system : the kitchen is too small and the trash bin is right next to the water cooler.

Cons

It's a terrible place to work and I couldn't get out of there fast enough. The technology stack is weak, outdated and inefficient. On most of the projects they are using PHP for everything - front-end, back-end and middle-tier. The number of memory leaks and exceptions caused by inefficient use of technology is staggering. It's a miracle that customers haven't abandoned ship en masse by now. Architects show no interest in adopting new technologies. They try to keep developers happy by throwing around buzzwords like Big Data and Java frameworks, but both were abandoned after some basic introductory training courses. Even to update the version of existing tools requires a never-ending chain of reviews and approvals, by which time probably the next version would have come out There is a great deal of politics and back-biting, especially among management, with the result that there is lowered morale and dissatisfaction among employees. How are you supposed to complete a project on time when all the managers involved with it are constantly bickering and arguing among themselves? Also, top-level management is completely disconnected from the rank-and-file, and barely bother to find out about grievances or issues that people have. Mostly, they are in damage control mode, trying to find scapegoats and excuses when attrition rates start increasing. This is no place to be for anyone interested in career growth, mutual respect among employees, leadership and vision from management, or job satisfaction in general.

Pros

At Cartera people are very social, considerate and the like to have fun. There is plenty if social activities, laughing, interaction, socially conscience and caring. (But the kitchen smells like fish :) )

Cons

Notice there is nothing about the job in PROS. Just about the people. The company is overly frustrating to work for. I was hired under borderline false pertinences and as much as I tried to implement and follow the rules from which I was hired, I was constantly following a bouncing ball, rule changes, personalities and power grabbing, etc. The management can’t make up their mind what to do, what development methodology to use and will pretty much lie and backstab people to protect their silos. There is no cooperation unless there is something in it for the individual manager and the good-of-the-company seems to be put on the back burner. There is one exception and she knows who she is. The company thinks they are agile but really, they are lethargic. They are stuck on silo mentality, old development standards, and old platforms. There are more ScrumButs then there are employees. If you are looking to advance a career in Project Management DO NOT work for Cartera.

Pros

There's nothing good about this company at all :(.

Cons

These developers that are giving 5 star ratings are basically false. I have worked with these developers and they basically hated their boss. Groups here don't work together well at all; they love to point fingers when things go wrong, which is basically every day. I have never worked for a company as dysfunctional as Cartera Commerce. Management teams here basically suck, most of them are not qualified to be at those high positions they are. -Most management people here have no clue what their job/responsibilities entail, and yet they get promoted!! Cartera makes huge mistakes by hiring unqualified very high up people, as they’re already hurting the company even more. Recently, Cartera laid off 30% of its employees. This shows how terrible Cartera is. I would say that, if you’re a professional person who has a few years into your career, this is not the place for you, as you will end up wasting your time. Cartera may be ok for those recent graduates who don’t have a lot of options work wise. Even for recent graduates, this would only be good for 1 year or 2 years tops. SO, DO YOURESF A FAVOR AND TRY AND NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE IF YOU HAVE OTHER OPTIONS!!
