Changing for the better? Not likely

Pros

Had the pleasure of working with wonderful, caring individuals. Everyone worked well together as a team. A lot of flexibility was given as long as the work was done. The profit sharing can be a great extra bonus.

Cons

A few years ago I would have rated this company 5 stars. The company has been undergoing changes and unfortunately, many hard working, U.S. employees have lost their jobs because of it. Upper management doesn't realize the amount of hours that are spent working in the office and from home in order to meet deadlines. Expect salaries to get capped and then receive minimal increases.

Company has lost its ways

Pros

It's difficult to find positive things to say about Cascades if you're a US based employee. The company just recently announced that many positions would be transferred to Canada at the expense of US workers. Career opportunities are also greatly diminished as a result of these changes.

Cons

Cascades used to be a great place to work for but the last couple of years have been very difficult and demotivating. The company is trying to transform itself from a decentralized model to a centralized one by pushing shared services and moving the decision making all back to Canada. You could argue that this makes financial sense but the senior management just does not have what it takes to execute such a major transformation.

Pros

it is better than working at a drive through or Wal-Mart.

Cons

management is weak at best. Cascades makes it a practice of hiring un-qaulified people with little to no relevant experience and placing them in leadership roles, while passing over current employees that are more than qualified. They pick and choose the rules they want to enforce and the discipline depends on who you are.
