High turnover in some locations

Pros

It’s a job. There is always something to do. They run lean, so you are never lacking for work. It is never boring.

Cons

I know reviews are heavily censored on this platform. So I will stick to the facts. I started working at Cascades around 2019. As of today, Zero of the salaried employees that were there when I started are currently working there. The turnover is excruciatingly high. It has been this way for almost a decade now. Multiple positions (HR, finance) have turned over 5 times in 2-3 years. Crazy. There is also very little corporate presence or recourse available. The only corporate presence I saw was in the form of ‘I’m going to hold you personally responsible for the company succeeding despite almost a decade of corporate underperformance’.

Pros

Salary position with good pay rate

Cons

Been with the company for about 3 months. It sounded too good to be true. The job description is very vague. The position is definitely misclassified under their maintanence department rather than being a part of shipping and receiving. As a salaried employee I know staying late is a part of the job, but I have been expected to wait around and twiddle my thumbs for an hour after my shift ended to unload a trailer. I understand if the trailer shows up around the time I leave. But to make me wait when the trailer isn't even there, and then also the time it takes to unload it. That is being taken advantage of.

Pros

Due to high turnover, you have ability to take on a lot of responsibility and new areas of expertise. If you are willing to be flexible, you will be able to learn new things.

Cons

Certain areas of company have high turnover rates making it difficult to get a good team built. Company went through major restructuring for shared services a few years ago that was poorly executed and continues to be an issue. They also tend to favor those from Quebec for any upward opportunities.
