Pros

The company has a solid reputation in the industry, known for delivering high-quality products and services that meet the needs of its clients. This strong market position is a testament to the hard work and strategic vision of the leadership team, which continues to drive the company toward new opportunities and achievements. The company’s strengths, including its tech stack, reputation, and potential for future growth, which provides a more balanced and constructive review.

Cons

I’ve been with the QE department for 5 years and it’s disheartening to see how far it has fallen. What was once a team known for its dedication and technical excellence has now become a place where mediocrity thrives, all due to blatant favoritism and office politics. The Director seems more interested in playing politics than in the actual quality of work being delivered. Promotions are handed out not to the most competent or hardworking individuals, but to those who are in the Director’s inner circle, regardless of their actual contribution or skill level. This has led to the elevation of some of the least capable people to positions of influence, further driving down the quality of the work we produce. As a result, the overall effectiveness of the QE department has plummeted. Critical issues are missed, standards are slipping, and the team’s output is a shadow of what it used to be. Talented employees are either leaving or becoming demotivated, and the once-strong reputation of the department is deteriorating rapidly.

Poor Work-Life Balance

Pros

Some great team members that work hard.

Cons

Upper management is always pushing teams to work after hours, weekends, and sometimes holidays to get "CEO & leadership priority" work done in an unreasonable amount of time. Working 60-80 hour weeks was not in the job description. Hilarious because HR flaunts this concept of summer Fridays, haven't been able to take one in 2 years.

Pros

1. Hard-working teammates 2. Fast-moving 3. Breadth of tools, goals, ideas to work on 4. Fair pay and benefits

Cons

1. Nearly everyone seems to be oveworked. While working from home, I literally have no time in between meetings or priority work. I have had to pee in bottles. 2. Agressive goals compound work. This is a toxic work culture because there is no strategy to better manage more work e.g. depriorizing when everything is a priority. This causes staff to work during meetings and be only half-engaged in both the meeting and the work. 3. Unreal expectations of using new tools at their full capacity, achieving changing goals (new or more aggressive), and pivoting to accommodate ideas that are not planned out well enough or with enough lead time. 4. Difficult to recruit despite fair pay and benefits due to A. Location. Oak Brook may be a trek for some. B. Remote inflexibility. For the most part, the company is inflexible on their long-term hybrid work plan. Employees must work at headquarters in Oak Brook. 3 days a week in-office, 2 days remote. C. Slow-moving about hiring decisions. 5. People disappear without notice or communication kind of like a mysterious Boogeyman. This should be a red flag.
