Bad work environment

Pros

Good benefits, good teammates, good high-level culture

Cons

CEO is trying to implement positive cultural changes but the same old happens underneath the surface. IT is surpassed by the rapid changes needed by the innovative product releases and directors don't know how to handle it. They react to put off the fires instead of planning for them, and when something goes wrong they blame middle management instead of the lack of strategy and resource planning. In the last three years, the best ideas of projects to implement in IT have come from operations, corporate communications, or the CEO herself instead of an actual IT strategy. Misogyny is present in Infrastructure Services even though it's 2021 and the department is in a bigger mess each day as they continue firing the good assets for their gender or sexual preference, and continue promoting those that are friends of the CIO, go out drinking with the director and laugh at his misogynistic comments and do as they are told only. The rest of the company seems very inclusive. Not sure if it was a coincidence, but I tried to reach out to two HR partners, both seemed happy to help, and both put in their two weeks notice weeks later.

The Perfect Clash of Old School vs New School

Pros

Ownership genuinely cares for its employees.

Cons

We've seen this before: Former CEO came in with all of the right ideas and personnel but the old guard of lifers refused to budge making it difficult to press forward. This time is different. Current CEO has overlooked the cash cow that is the LiftMaster brand and trying to turn company into a tech platform. In both situations, the story remains the same. Engineering and Sales wield too much power. Marketing is non-existent.

Thanks for your review. We are undergoing a business transformation, part of which was born out of advances in our myQ smart technology. However, the transformation is not possible without our trusted LiftMaster and Chamberlain brands. Our smart access technology empowers our customers by connecting them to their homes and businesses via internet-enabled garage door openers, commercial door operators, gate operators and now also smart cameras and locks. Our company’s greatest resource is our people; part of our transformation includes continually improving our culture. We focus on our values and behaviors—acting as ONETEAM instead of siloed functions. It would be great to hear what good ideas you think have not been implemented effectively. —CGI ONETEAM
