Pros
Chevron has good benefits, and takes care of its employees - as long as the price of oil is high. Great place to be a stockholder.
Cons
If the price of oil dips, employees and contractors are the first place they look to cut. Looking had headcount over the last 10+ years, you can see significant layoffs and firings every time the price of oil drops, and the belt needs to tighten. Shareholder dividend is prioritized over employees.
