Treats the customer like gold - employees, not so much.

Pros

Lots of funding towards work that improves the customer experience, still very much in growth mode.

Cons

Some really, really immature leadership. I have observed more title-dropping here than any other company I’ve worked for. Many of the people I work with on a daily basis are from Amazon, and have brought some unpleasant elements of that culture along with them (backstabbing, politicking). That combined with the limited leadership experience of people of have been with Chewy from the early days creates a very toxic and chaotic environment. There was an email distributed about a forthcoming employee survey that never materialized. Communication is severely lacking. Vendor facing employees were not armed with information about the recent BC transaction. The first ever town hall was in March, but since then there has been no messaging from the top. There is an overall lack of partnership and coordination that makes the day-to-day painful. Zero tuition reimbursement or employee development that I have seen.

Pros

Unrivaled potential to create your growth. Employees who support you. Culture that values customers. Eye on the important things. Long term vision. Amazing CEO.

Cons

There's a lot of change, and there's too many things happening to get your handheld. You need to have initiative to do well here.

Pros

Dress code is casual (IE: Jeans, piercings allowed, brightly colored hair allowed, etc) The occasional pet dog or cat in the office Happy hour (If you decide to wait in that line and can chug your beer in 15 min) Random food parties/ themed days Laid-back, casual interaction between you and customers Flexibility in schedule (you can easily change to different times such as 6 am - 2 pm, 11 am - 7:30 pm, etc)

Cons

Only within the past year have they hired upper management with any real qualifications or background. Even with this new hire, management basically leans heavily on the method of "breaking you down to build you back up method". Which in the military, sports or even a company that has a definite, concise, organized and clear set of expectations/procedures/protocols, can be effective. When it is used at random times as a way to introduce new protocols and procedures, it's discouraging to say the least. Promotions are earned by who you get friendly with, sleep with and only if you're willing to put everything else in your life on hold to completely devote yourself to this job. This is the ONLY way to move up, they do not promote people based on merit, education, or actual experience. If you are in dire straits and need a job that pays more than minimum wage to feed your kids or keep a roof over your head this place is perfect. However, NEVER stop looking for an actual career opportunity while working here. This will only be your last stop if you have no ambition or drive to better yourself.
