Bad management

Pros

You meet a lot of great people and learn a lot of new skills. The benefits are good and they feed you a lot.

Cons

Management does not listen to you. They micromanage you so much, they don’t even notice you’re already doing the task they’re asking you to do. One of the leads used a racial slur and she was moved to a higher paying position. They don’t properly train you unless you request it. Also you can ask 3 leads the same question and literally get 3 different answers. The culture of the company has completely changed. We were hired under false pretenses. The information given in the interview was all changed.

Pros

Customer service is phenomenal (for external customers). Schedules are consistent Benefits and PTO

Cons

The culture is awful, plenty of nepotism and infighting. It's incredibly cliquey and if you're not great at brown nosing you'll be stuck on the phones forever. There's very little compassion or sincerity underneath the "Whoa, you bring your dog to work and drink beers at your desk" glitz and glamour of Chewy. There is very little flexibility for real life. You better only go to the bathroom on your 15s or you'll be talked to about your attendance. You better not be a minute late to clock 4 times in one month or you'll get talked to. And god-forbid you want two consecutive days off because of "the needs of the business". The customer service for internal customers is nearly nonexistent. Everything is on a need to know basis and you'll only get the information you need to know after you hound people to follow up. There's no formal system to submit complaints or suggestions for things that need improvement. There's no formal way to make the transition from customer service to other departments within the company. Part of why I initially applied is to work my way up the ranks but there's next to no development or interaction between customer service and the rest of the company.

Pros

Some teams really put the customer first. Good coffee at HQ.

Cons

Tons of internal politics. Coworkers are outwardly friendly but will quickly backstab. Big lack of communication across functions and from leadership. No 401k match, tuition reimbursement, employee review cycle or bonuses. Poorly defined HR policies. Nepotism. Overall lack of respect for employees at all levels. Lack of career growth options (unless you are really good at sucking up). Lack of diversity, especially generational. Inexperienced leadership. Open office plan for employees and closed door offices for leaders.
