Pros

It is God's work to be in a position to make a difference in the lives of students in high need schools. CPS has a very good pension plan.

Cons

First year Teachers do not get the support from other teachers. It is not a professional environment. Too may teachers in CPS are not team players. After the transition is complete (multi year budget transition) the pension benefits of working at cps might be gone making it financially unworthy

Pros

Central Office is conveniently located in the loop. There are a number of holidays we get off, including some obscure ones such as Pulaski Day and Lincoln's Birthday. There is a good work / life balance.

Cons

A very big bureaucracy. Very difficult to get anything done. Communication is very limited from the senior management. You routinely hear about major changes at CPS in the news before any type of internal communication.
