Pros

CMI combines expert knowledge, scientific curiosity, and an entrepreneurial spirit. The clinical work at CMI is cutting edge-- the clinicians are knowledgeable experts who really care about their individual work with kids and about a larger impact-- making sure that parents, caregivers, and teachers have access to information about childhood mental health and learning disorders. The research at CMI has a long-term goal of collecting and sharing huge amounts of valuable data to scientists all over the world, which opens up the floor to discovery of new ways to diagnose and treat mental health and learning disorders. The technology development is also exciting-- creating apps and devices that will change the way we do treatment and research.

Cons

Can be a bit hierarchical and offers few opportunities for professional growth. There's no cohesive culture, so it's harder to create genuine connections across teams. Everyone's working on their piece and it doesn't really feel like you're working together towards the vision. Expansion and changes are not fully thought through-- there's a lot of reactivity and not enough strategic planning for internal operations.

Pros

There are some mission-driven, talented individuals.

Cons

Systemic issues too often overshadow the efforts of dedicated individuals. As a result, many of them ultimately choose to leave. For those seeking a principled and genuinely supportive environment, this institute is unlikely to be the right fit.

Pros

Shifting the conversation on mental health. Great mission. Great marketing.

Cons

Leadership is so opportunistic and shortsighted that all activity underneath them operates in complete chaos. They say yes to anything that pops up so they are unable to actually accomplish anything in the end.
