Pros

Great idea for an all suites hotel, the product does sell itself. The front desk position was great and challenging.

Cons

After opening up the hotel and then working there for a long period of time no received a promotion or a raise. Management depended on the regular hourly employees to do a lot of the menial duties they got paid to do

Choice Hotels what a joke

Pros

Benefits, flexible work hours, hotel discounts and the people low on the totem pole are great. I really can't think of any other best reasons to work at Choice Hotels.

Cons

Leadership is a joke. In order to grow at this company you have to have worked there at least 20 years. And don't be intelligent or know what you are talking about as it falls upon deaf ears. Human Resources is a joke. They truly do not have any ethics at this company. Or and the performance evaluation is not based on what you deliver to contribute to the company strategy, oh I forgot they don't have a strategy. Your yearly review is based on the Value Star! That includes diversity, respect, integrity, loyalty and some other stuff that leadership doesn't even practice. Lead by example folks!!! Oh I forgot they've all been working here since they were 18 years old, they have no idea how a real corporation works!

Pros

Was above min wage at the time Great flexible hours to accommodate college student schedule Wonderful exposure to running a small business Got to meet a lot of people traveling in and out Choice Hotels training and marketing materials are top notch

Cons

When working in a hotel chain like this, it's rare you get to move up unless the owner is not the manager Serving the general public is always difficult when eccentric and brash personalities are displayed The type of customers the chain attracts is not always pleasant or appreciating, they are just looking for cheap cheap cheap + everything free.
