Pros

There are good people at this company and the CEO seems to really care.

Cons

- Micromanaged to death. To the point that I would get talked to for having my Teams on "Focused" for a few hours. This is ridiculous and I shouldn't have someone down my throat for having a certain setting on. - You will constantly get talked about for the hours you work. The CFO is a workaholic and expects you to be the same. I was constantly compared to other employees within the company for the hours I worked and what they worked. And I was putting in 10 hour minimum days and working weekends. - Manager was basically absent for most of my tenure at Circa. He was constantly side tracked with other tasks. To the point that in multiple meetings he wasn't even paying attention to what was being talked about or have any input. - The expectations of your role here is just far too unrealistic. It may say "Other duties as assigned" but when you are doing everything under the sun and still getting hounded it becomes very disheartening. - There was basically zero to little direction for my actual role and it became frustrating to be told to just go find additional projects on top of the unrealistic work load. Next to zero training to go along with things as well. - There is clear favoritism here when it comes to year end bonuses (Unless you're in sales where there are clear metrics). You are not held to any metrics and it's basically whoever the executive team likes will get one.

Circa Response

Hello – We are deeply sorry that you didn’t have a great employee experience at Circa while you were with us. Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about it. We absolutely agree that there was too much going on with too few resources while you were with the organization. Working more hours isn’t a sustainable solution to being short staffed in comparison to the amount of work. Multi-tasking during meetings isn’t effective, either, as you noted. We have added resources to the team, and continue to look at how to best support the Finance function. We are in a better place and we hope that you are too. If you want to talk about your experience, please feel free to reach out to either one of us at your convenience. Kind Regards, Dana Pat

Position not as advertised

Pros

The job was remote, so at least I didn't need to drag myself into an office. Quick interview process, although the time from application to interview was about 5 weeks, so I kinda forgot I applied by the time HR called to set an initial interview. But once they were set, all interviews were within a week, with an offer shortly after that. I thankfully didn't use the insurance much, but the premiums were reasonable.

Cons

Job was not as advertised. Ended up being a support role, which absolutely was not mentioned at any point in the 4 interviews conducted. Thoughts of individual contributors were not valued, attempting to suggest an idea was seen as 'solutioning', mid level management was extremely patronizing ("oh, you've come such a long way" - gag me with a spoon. I've been doing this job role for years at Fortune companies, with a high degree of success operating to established industry standards.) Legacy tech in place, with gaslighting from long time employees "that's never worked like that" - um, I've got a dozen emails from your colleague who designed the process that say the exact opposite. Pay was low, it was 20k lower than my previous role, but as I was unemployed, did not have a choice. Needed to start working again, because unemployment is 10% of what I was previously making. Unlimited PTO. You might think this is a Pro. It is not. Not a pro when you're not able to take time off because someone else is abusing the unlimited policy. 401k match could be way better. It is 50%, and previous employers all matched at 100%.
