Pros

The people you meet are usually pretty nice, just grabbing their stuff and going It’s generally really easy work if you have coworkers that help and managers that are halfway decent people, unfortunately I didn’t have either

Cons

It was probably just my location specifically that was this bad but: No matter how often I told them I could only work certain hours due to transportation and other work, I would only ever be scheduled the hours I could not work. It got to the point where I just had to quit because they wouldn’t let me trade shifts and I physically could not work for them. If a customer is harassing you they will do nothing about it. Plain and simple. Even if they follow you out to your car after your shift, won’t even ban them from the premises. My coworkers would often go to the bathroom/take a smoke break for 30+ minutes and nothing would be done, yet I would get told off if I went to the bathroom for five minutes. I was not allowed to wear a jacket because it covered the back of my shirt, even in the winter time when I had to stand outside to fix the car wash or empty the trash cans by the pumps. Requested a long sleeve shirt multiple times, never got done. Management was very passive aggressive, or just outright verbally aggressive every time someone came to them with a request. One of our managers was well known to yell if you so much as asked him to help with one of the soda syrups in the back.

Pros

Working as a graveyard shift attendant at Circle K stations gives experience in multiple fields that have longevity as cornerstones of the service industry. It is at once a mechanical and social experience. A job that can give you challenges in both those facets can be fulfilling, if certain variables are met on both sides of the employment transaction.

Cons

There are constant ethical quandaries that are inevitable in this position. Customer service, especially when it's available in the deep hours of the night, comes with risks to one's very safety, and your employers will avoid discussing such issues until it's too late. The Circle K franchise specifically has a known poor track record with considering first the safety of their employees, and due to the nature of such a low paying position, they will not hesitate to terminate you under any circumstance that could introduce legal fees. The employers also have certain expectations about both how one goes about their work, and how they treat certain classes of customer, which are not particularly fair or concerned with respect for any party that is not essential to the operation of the business as a whole. In a graveyard role be prepared for attacks on your decision making skills from both sides of the counter, and work with your own longevity in mind. It can be a perilous assignment in which split decisions make large differences, day by day and week by week.

Pros

People and the friendships that are made

Cons

Management is horrible from upper to lower. Even at the store levels. No one care for your advice or thoughts on how to make the company better. Experience fuel hauler and drivers go to Sun Coast Resources, Brenntag or mansfield for the pay and respect. If you want a weekend days off stay away. At least with 5-2/ 5-3 rotating schedule you get more family time. Instead only being off during the week.
