Pros

Large complex projects, opportunities for advancement if your the right fit, large company with opportunities in other regions.

Cons

The company is upper management top heavy. There tends to be a high degree of employee turnover. There is no clear path for advancement, this appears to be random in the Western region. The salaries at the lower end of the pay scale which contribute to the high degree of employee turnover. Executive leadership lacks vision.

Great at selling, lousy at delivering.

Pros

The peer group of people I worked with were outstanding! Very ethical, hard-working, and solid core values. Interestingly, a very diverse group as well, so the hiring folks have done a good job over the past 7 years in that area. Excellent benefits, but cannot compete with the ESOP packages other companies offer. They do the best projects in the country, and that made me proud to be part of the organization.

Cons

The downsides are they made many promises about what they will do fro me once I accept the offer of employment, and then keep kicking the promises down the road, asking me to "just be patient." The leadership doesn't seem to remember what they tell their employees. It seems the only way to get their attention, or get a promotion or raise, is to resign! Not a smart method for keeping good people!

IT Help Desk

Pros

People are supportive if you ask for help. Especially senior employees. They will go out of their way to give special assignments to Help Desk staff to help them learn.

Cons

The IT Help Desk role at Clark Construction has the highest turnover rate in the entire IT department. On a normal day, you sit at your cubicle, answer the phone calls as they come in (number of incoming phone calls per Help Desk employee can range from 20 - 80. Averaging somewhere around 35). While answering calls, you also have to assist "walk-ins", people who, for one reason or another, need help with their cell phones and laptops. Your daily schedule is rarely the same. For example, there are about 3 - 4 different shifts. So you might work 7am - 4pm on Monday, and then work 10am - 7pm the next day.
