Pros

I gained a lot of knowledge of different environmental issues working at Clean Water Action Got a foot in the door in my environmental career Added a lot to my resume in my time here

Cons

Loooow pay. I know almost everyone in the organization doesn't make a lot, but still, pay your employees more. We are out there raising money for you, we shouldn't also have to advocate for our own raises. Also white men in this organization do so many questionable things and stay for a long time, while POC folks get scrutinized for every misstep They put out a lot about inclusion but do no live up to it This job burned me out and left me exhausted at the end

Pros

I respect what they do for the environment

Cons

They mislead me completely. They pretty much told me as a management trainee I would learn how to run a non profit but when I got there it was just complete canvassing. And the people in "management positions" were just canvassers to. It got worse once I realized that you get paid based off what donations you can bring in from the neighborhood that night. This is something the interviewer failed to tell me. I spoke to a canvasser and they pretty much told me they misrepresent the job to get bodies there. It was a complete waste of time and energy on my part and I wish they just would have been honest.

Pros

The overall message of the company was very positive. Everybody loves environmental protection. A lot of the people that worked there already were very approachable and friendly.

Cons

People were friendly but overall very passive aggressive when giving criticisms during training. There is an extremely high turnover rate because people can't make it to the 190$ a day fundraising goal (when they say "goal", they mean minimum). They don't tell you that you'll be fired a week after you're hired, in the middle of training, if you don't meet the goal. Canvassing is physically and mentally strenuous since you're knocking door to door asking for money. You end the day really late sometimes at eleven pm. See also: "cut co"
