Pros

It was a good working atmosphere while it lasted

Cons

The company is laying off employees every few months. In October they laid off 27% of their employees, and they did it again in January. Your job is insecure even if you have a full time job. They will fire you for no reason whatsoever.

Pros

(It is difficult for me to write this review because if you just ignore the past two rounds of layoffs, this company is amazing to work for. However, the way layoffs were handled and the choices that were made leading up to them really impacted my overall rating) -Amazing product department. Clear Capital has made attempts over the years to be more product-led. They still have a ways to go but this was a great aspect to working there. Please note that the product department has been decimated recently due to the layoffs. There are only a couple of PMs left and no CPO anymore. I anticipate it will be challenging for Product and for other departments due to lack of resources and a much more panicked c-suite. -Diversity is high and the company cares about inequality in the mortgage lending space. They actually work with GSEs and the community to help fight racial bias. -Most of my coworkers were amazing and very nice. Everyone gave a care. I made lots of long-lasting friends here. -Fantastic group of engineers at this company. They were incredibly involved and knowledgable. It made Product's job easier as they were an amazing partner to collaborate with on problems and solutions. This department was also decimated and lots of talented engineers lost their jobs. However, I know there are still great engineers there.

Cons

-A lot of the departments have been decimated due to two large rounds of layoffs. This will make things stressful for those who remain as they not only have to take on more responsibility for no increase in pay, but they have to potentially put their own projects on hold as they attempt to right the ship. -They are not a tech-led company, although they may want to be one someday. They are still very much focused on the valuations side of the company which ended up being a bad bet for them as the mortgage industry flailed. It was frustrating working on new tech initiatives only to have almost the entire c-suite only really care about the valuations side of the company. They tried to be interested and excited about the tech side of things, but it was very clear where their main investment was. It felt like those in tech who got to work on the valuations side of things were treated better and with favoritism.

Pros

I can only say a few people that I engaged with in my one year at Clear Capital were the best things at the company.

Cons

The product management is a mess.
