Pros

Once a remote-first company that valued diversity, this is now run by corporate leadership with absolute no interest in valuing the human resources they were lucky enough to inherit. Our team had fantastic editors until every last one of them either resigned out of sheer exhaustion and demoralization or were laid off.

Cons

The CEO and his sycophant leadership (many of whom are literally family so enjoy the nepotism) see intent on running this company to the ground and squeezing every last penny and ounce of will out of its beleaguered employees. Chaotic, incompetent, and the callousness of repeated lies amid endless rounds of layoffs is utterly cruel. They refused to pay out accrued PTO to employees during layoffs and the severance packages were a joke.

Pros

There are so many fantastic, talented, and nice people that work here. The culture of the company from several years ago is clearly still present in this regard, but most of the only things that are good about Clearlink are the people and culture from before the new ownership took over. The office IS pretty nice, but being forced back in with little notice isn't. That's not what I was hired to do. Plus almost everyone I talked to is more productive at home. Also, no one comes in so there's this massive office that's about a quarter full at best. If there is any reason the company stays afloat past the next few years, it will be because of specialists who are extremely knowledgeable and doing far more to impact the business than any of the executives.

Cons

James Clarke is rapidly destroying a company that had a really bright future. I saw myself working there for several years with potential growth opportunities. In the span of 4 months that all changed and led to my decision to look elsewhere. Disregarding James' deranged speech from the town hall not that long ago, the company is slowly removing benefits such as half day Fridays, remote work, and others after very clearly stating that they had no plans to require a return to office. They've violated all trust, and that doesn't come back easily (no matter how many cupcakes you hand out in the office). Upper management has decided to punish aspects of the business that are doing well due to an outdated business model predictably under-performing. James Clarke also seems to think that recent lack of performance is due to the people at the company working from home or devoting their time to being parents, rather than the fact that several manager positions haven't been back-filled (in multiple cases teams ran for over a year without a manager). I could go on, but more than anything avoid this company like the plague as long as current leadership is still involved.

Pros

I loved Clearlink when it was run by a former ski instructor and bank teller and I did trust them. The 3 stars are for the amazing, intelligent, hardworking employees who still work at Clearlink.

Cons

The interesting thing about the $5,000 for employees quitting so layoffs weren’t necessary was that just the day before many across the marketing department were laid off without any warning of it even being a possibility, some who had been at Clearlink for more than a decade. I was shocked when I heard the CEO say it.
