Pros

You will learn a lot. They are a number one hospital for a reason. They are always pushing to reach its audiences in the newest and most innovative ways possible. While goals are of course to drive business, this is a hospital that also cares deeply about its patients, and does well to understand them. And they work hard to make sure that message comes through in all of its messaging. And the physicians that work here are incredible. Some of the smartest, most ambitious individuals I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

Cons

Work-life balance is poor. The Marketing department goes above and beyond. Not your normal 8-5. To succeed, you need to be able to work long hours, sometimes weekends, and are expected to be in the office or at main campus. There’s really no working from home or flexibility. It can be hard when you’re starting a family and may need a more flexible position. Also, the Clinic notoriously underpays, at least in the marketing department. However, the benefits really make up for it. You’ll never find a better healthcare plan, and I think it’s one of the last places to still offer a pension plan in addition to a matched 401k.

Pros

CCF is a decent place to start a career. I was given the opportunity to learn a lot about my occupation. The health insurance, 403(b) matching + pension, and PTO system (28 days for the first 5 years) was very generous.

Cons

The salaries are below the market rate for my position. Merit raises are minimal (~2%). After 3 years, I learned that a fresh college graduate made more than I did at the time! My manager indicated that I do not deserve a larger raise despite strong experience and exceptional performance reviews. Additionally, management did not seem to take employee concerns seriously. A colleague bullied many people in my department. Despite numerous reports from many different people, it did not seem like any changes were made. The vision insurance is not great and did not save me money after considering the premiums.

Pros

You get to say that you work for the Clinic.

Cons

Unless you are a doctor, nurse or have a high paying title, you are nothing to them and they always make sure that you know it.
