Pros

Fun, energetic culture. Strong engineering team overall.

Cons

Juggling features and reliability has become a problem. A lot of talk about improving reliability but still getting same feature requests from other teams making it difficult/impossible to manage.

Pros

CU had great benefits, including healthcare and ways to give back.

Cons

Buckle-up! This is a ride I would never recommend to even my worst enemy. CU was hands-down the worst employee experience I have ever had. From day one, there were unrealistic expectations placed on management and our teams that could never actually work. When you didn't agree with the business decisions that were demanded of your team, it would end in raised voices and you'd fear for your employment (yes it's true, people would be here one day and gone the next. They have no mercy if you disagree). Decisions at CU are made out of the pure emotion of the very inexperienced CBO (what even is that?), not based off of data like they claim. If a team doesn't like what they're doing, and they're in the right inner circle, then they just pass it off to another team so they don't have to deal with it anymore. There are about 3-4 teams doing the same work as each other which causes extreme confusion and makes getting anything done next to impossible. This place is TOXIC. Ever heard of the early days of Uber? CU is Uber 2.0 in regards to toxicity. In every meeting, someone would get thrown under the bus and if you spoke up, you'd fear for your job. In meetings with upper leadership (SVPs, CBOs), I was asked to share the problems with my leaders under the guise of helping them improve. It was to build a case to fire them, along with so many others. I should have never accepted to work at CU after talking to the CBO, Tommy. He has no place being in a position like this but is because he's Zeb's best friend. He is a glorified closer and recruiter but does not know how to successfully run most of the departments under his umbrella. He runs his teams based off of books read, rather than listening to the experienced leaders he somehow convinces to work at CU. You should know just by their website that they will expect blood, sweat, tears and all of your time. Don't even think about having extracurricular hobbies or interests, you will not have the energy to do them after working 10-12 hour days. Take my advice and look elsewhere for a job. This is not the rocket ship you want to be on.
