Pros

Salary, some cool coworkers, company is booming and growing quickly

Cons

ClickUp is overall a terrible place to work. You are expected to be online just about 110% of the time and employee happiness is sacrificed for the success of the app. This place is the definition of a sweatshop. Leadership has no clue what they are doing and even though they are hiring bright people, they are micro managers who control everything to the last detail. This company is full of surveillance and you will never quite feel “safe”. If sleep, mental health, and your family and friends are important to you, do NOT work here.

We are disappointed that your experience at ClickUp was not what you were hoping for. We value transparency and your feedback can help improve our workplace. We no longer require mandatory overtime in Customer Support because we recognize the importance of a healthy work-life balance. As we continue to grow, we are intentionally hiring impactful leaders with relevant experience. Thank you for your time at ClickUp and for providing this constructive feedback!

Great product... but VERY poorly run company

Pros

Competitive product in a competitive space. It's one of the better, if not best, productivity tool to use as an end user. Some great people at ClickUp. They do a great job attracting top talent. It really is a fun group to work with. They have some of the best creative and marketing content out there.

Cons

This company has a MASSIVE executive leadership problem. They hire really smart, talented, experienced department leaders then micromanage them or force them into aligning with poor corporate strategy. CEO is a narcissist, CBO has little to no EQ and no business being a people leader. Together they puppet the rest of the leadership team and ultimately the company. Most employees see right through it but are too smart to say anything. Put up or get out is a harsh reality here. Tons of great leaders have left because of this. Decisions are made with little to no logic, and rarely with the employees best interest in mind. Communication may be the worst of everything. Weird communication standards set by the CEO including the required use of emojis. Huge over-communication problem. You spend half your day answering the same things across multiple channels. Literally consumes most of your day. Reprimanded and threatened if you don't keep up with it or miss communications. It's literally the most unproductive thing I've seen at a company (ironic) DE&I is not a focus at all. If you're not a nerdy bro, you're probably not going to fit in or be respected by the execs.

Pros

My coworkers are amazing. We deeply care for one another and rely on one another because of the hard working conditions.

Cons

There is no long term career path here. The reason they have a 10/20/30/40 stock vesting schedule is because people leave after a year. They announced moving to a 20/20/30/30 schedule 2 months ago along with many “new changes” (company days off for mental health, wellness reimbursement, etc) but zero details on any of it All hands last week was basically the Elon Musk maneuver….be dedicated to the mission or “connect with your HR business partner and we will find a way for you to leave” (that’s a direct quote). There is vibe like “you’re lucky to be here” - pervasive at the company but dripping from the CEO, CBO and chief growth officer. The CGO has these odd office hours on Fridays where he talks about himself and wants us to ask questions about HIS career so we can learn **eyeroll** And women leaders, forget about it. Someone asked the 2-3 women in leadership on how they balance being a working mom with young kids and their response (no joke): “throw money at it.” Yup, barely able to pay bills, working long hours in the midst of a recession and this is how the role models here respond.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback. In the past year, we've grown our Exec team by bringing on new leaders and leaning into our growth mindset. We're committed to iterating and improving as we mature as a company. One of the examples of where we've matured is with our new corporate benefits. We wanted to give our Crew members a high-level preview while we worked through the finer details of the policies themselves. As we shared during our All-Hands, the new benefits will go into effect in January 2023. That includes an enhanced parental leave policy to support our working parents! We believe ClickUp is a great place to be, and we also recognize how lucky we are to employ such talented people. Like every company, we hope our employees connect to our mission and want to contribute at ClickUp. At times, people might also decide that ClickUp is not the best place for them. If that happens, we aim to provide support and treat their decision with care. We believe in growing people in their careers, and if they prefer to do that outside of ClickUp, we understand and support that. Thank you for sharing your review. We are committed to growing, and your feedback can help us do that.
