Very rewarding job with an awesome work environment
Pros
My experience over the last couple of years at CoSchedule has been nothing but positive. I have a ton of respect for the management and how they have structured this very successful international company. Their value system and leadership style is all about creating the best work environment, empowering their employees, and maintaining a healthy work/life balance. In the last year or so, CoSchedule has started to scale quite rapidly, and the responsibility and wisdom of the leadership team has been very impressive, considering the founders are quite young, this is uncharted territory for them. They consistently are making smart decisions for the future of the company and are always willing to listen and seek help and advice from top mentors in the industry all the way down to their newest employees, a true mark of humility. I have no hesitation in saying that I really believe this company will be around for many years, if not decades to come, which is not common for startup software companies. They have really found an untapped market for their product, and the sky is the limit for how far it will take them. In my experience they have always been very generous with their compensation and benefits, always looking to reward hard work, and provide very competitive PTO, insurance, and equity plans. The culture is truly founded on the idea of loving what you do, and doing what you love. Everyone on the team is given a voice and has a direct influence on the future of the company. They demand a high level of quality and commitment from their employees, but always reward it with unique opportunities for fun and community both inside and outside of work. There is not a single person on the team that I wouldn't want to go have a beer with after work. Overall, I've searched for years for a great job opportunity that made me excited to go to work in the morning, and I have definitely found that at CoSchedule and hope to be here for many years to come.
Cons
I personally have really come to love the unique work environment and culture, so I don't have any cons, but some people could see the lack of cubicles and open floor plans of the office to be distracting. Also the workplace is very much based on self management, so if you need to be told every task to do and need that sort of top down management, you won't find it here. If you don't like having free beer, random donuts, free coffee, grill-outs every Wednesday, and countless opportunities to interact with your teammates, then CoSchedule is not for you. If you are looking for a place to just do the bare minimum from 9-5 just to make a paycheck, look elsewhere as you won't fit in here.
