World-class research facilities, reputable scholars, lots of symposiums and seminars.

Cons

PI expects a LOT of work done while paying minimum wage. HR once attempted to cut health insurance for grad students.

Pros

Research is good and resourceful. A lot of interactions and collaborations are going on internally and externally. It's a good place for someone who wants to do great science.

Cons

It's really small and isolated so not easy to have a social life outside the workplace. And work/life balance seems off. The relatively high life expenses in the area only makes things harder. For students and postdocs, it usually takes much longer to achieve their goals and move to the next position
