Beautiful campus, great health benefits, brilliant scientists, and prestigious institution

Cons

Be prepared to spend far more years than expected to accomplish what you need to finish. While a great place to work, students here can spend 1-3 more years than average to graduate for whatever reason.

Good science but isolated environment

Pros

It's definitely a good place to do science. Many PIs have a lot of money to allow you do what you want. Pace is relatively fast and that makes you productive. Because it's a small place with only a couple of hundred people, everyone knows each other. You can actually make friends and have fun with those people.

Cons

It's a isolated place in long island. it's hard to have a social life outside work or to meet more people. And this kind of intimacy shared among people here is not good for everyone. Besides, life expense is high, especially rent.

Some of the best brains and talent, beautiful location

Cons

Too much power given to PIs who abuse it, and management looks the other way. Have never seen such waste of government money obtained as grants
