Pros

Good pay at an executive level in a non profit with very less work.. you can get to an executive role with no higher education degree even if this is an education company I have been able to move up with my current manager. Eventhough there are many talented team members in my team, my manager has been great. I have been able to move up easily and get promoted easily. Depends on your rapport with your manager than any skillset. Manager controls everything so make sure you are close to your manager. If you are a female it is much easier. Once you reach Executive Director or VP, you do not have to do much work. No one notices and life is so much easy.

Cons

No meritocracy. I feel bad for my coworkers who really work hard. May be this is not their cup of tea or right group. I do not have the talent or skillset to do my current job but no one monitors it. It does cause some dissatisfaction and i do feel bad for my colleagues. Most of them are passionate and skillful with advanced degrees but are crushed by manager. Leadership team including CEO and COO are not capable. HR is not existent. Senior management follows same trends so managers do it too. All you need to grow in the company is good relationship with manager. No skills no degrees no proof. There is also no fear of losing job once you are Executive Director or VP.

Pros

Benefits, location (Reston Town Center)

Cons

Given the not for profit mission, strong revenue from the SAT and AP exams and benefits, College Board should have the best and brightest. It does not. There are solid people, but starting at the Executive Director level it goes down hill the higher you go up. It is all about protecting your peers, no measurement of results, failure is dismissed/covered up.
